We just took a major step forward in the fight to control artificial intelligence before it controls us.

On May 11, our members approved three groundbreaking new AI policies. These are now officially part of the Atlas Survival Bill, our political platform for the campaign for UN Secretary-General. Each policy tackles one of the most urgent threats to human survival.

Here’s what was adopted:

1. Stop Dangerous Artificial Intelligence
   We demand an immediate pause on the development of superintelligence beyond current capabilities. This includes a global verification regime and a permanent ban on using AIs to enhance other AIs, which could spiral out of human control.
2. Global Control under the United Nations
   We propose a new global governance system to keep AI safe and inclusive. It includes a regulatory agency, a unified research body, and an international tribunal to oversee rules and resolve disputes. These institutions must serve all people, not just the powerful.
3. Artificial Intelligence Profits for All, Not Just a Few
   We call for an international tax on massive AI profits to fund a Universal AI Dividend. Wealth created by artificial intelligence must be shared fairly, supporting global economic, environmental, and social needs.

While tech giants and powerful states push ahead with no real guardrails, these new policies are a call to action. We refuse to accept a future shaped in private boardrooms or secret labs. AI must be brought under public control, guided by the needs of all people, not the interests of the few.

This is our line in the sand. As headlines fill with news of AI breakthroughs, growing risks, and reckless competition, Atlas is building the political alternative. We will push this Survival Bill forward throughout our campaign for United Nations Secretary-General, for all of our sake. 

Those threats are global, and the United Nations cannot deal with them due to its undemocratic and outdated setup. Even its leader, the Secretary-General, is chosen in an opaque process by countries seeking to uphold the status quo. But we must have a UN with the necessary competencies, legitimacy, and leadership to ensure our survival.
